In early 2023, I noticed that people were getting frustrated that there was no reliable way to get notified about exclusive badges on Twitch, and even though websites that track Twitch badges, such as Stream Database, existed, they couldn't be relied on to actually know about a badge before the qualifying period was over. That's when I asked Ravenbtw, the owner Stream Database, if he wanted to co-found a Discord server with me that would post Global Twitch Badge notifications for everyone in the Twitch community interested in badge hunting. He declined due to some concerns, since my original idea was to automate the process based on Twitch blog posts. Mind you, Stream Database back then was not the community of Twitch badge hunters it is now. After Ravenbtw declined, I started the Discord server with a friend of mine that same week and soon noticed two things. First, that attempting to automatic such a process was highly impractical. And second, that there were actually enough dedicated community members, that community reporting alone was not only enough for word to get around, but far more effective.
